Created by American socialite, Nicole Richie, House of Harlow 1960 (named after her daughter Harlow) was created in 2007 as a jewellery brand, using the 60s bohemian style as a heavy inspiration. The collection features a range of Aztec pieces - Perspex earrings; tiger eye rings and pointed necklaces – and is the perfect mix of gypsy bohemia with a glamorous twist. And House of Harlow eyewear is no exception. After the immediate success of the first collection, the second was launched, consisting of clothing and eyewear.
Nicole has created the perfect pair of sunglasses in the gorgeous form of House of Harlow eyewear. Large and luxurious, House of Harlow frames beautifully capture fifties and sixties aesthetic. But there is more to her penchant for sunglasses than an admiration for Audrey Hepburn.
‘When I wear sunglasses, it’s because I don’t wear makeup,’ she said. ‘I don’t know how to do makeup – it’s just not a part of my life…. Sometimes you need to put something on your face, and that’s why I tend to wear bigger frames. So I almost think of sunglasses as masks just to cover it up. And I think you can have fun with them.’ Nicole revealed to WWD.

It is all so modern but reminiscent of days gone by. This first offering from her debut collection currently only comes in black and gold. But will soon be available in more colours.
